The Most Beautiful Woman In The World 2012

… is Beyonce.

People Magazine have awarded this year’s World’s Most Beautiful Woman’s award to Beyonce, and I think they have made a super choice. She’s beautiful! She’s got killer curves, beautiful skin, a lovely smile.

I think it’s a win for women – we have so many skinny women held up to us as examples of what we should strive to look like. It’s refreshing to see a woman who is NOT stick thin and does have a butt and hips and boobs and is happy with them celebrated instead.

Who would you have chosen?

  1. Now if you know me..I’m about to say something ‘corny’..I think the most beautiful woman in the world is the woman..whether it be mother, wife, sister, daughter etc..that loves you, supports you, affirms you and that you would most want to be in the company of…nothing to do with looks but the inner beauty…If my mother were alive it would be her..but it would for me have to be my sister…who does all of the things mentioned above…Diane.

I love Natalie Portman’s beauty, but Beyonce is most worthy. She’s an all round role model of beauty, style, confidence, charm, drive, talent and maintains family values. She’s awesome!

I love Natalie too, always have, from the first movie I saw her in, The Professional (I think?) where she was a 12 year old? She’s truly beautiful. Beyonce is an all round beauty too :)

  3. NOT beyonce. I’ve always viewed her as being super fat. :)

Nicole, get the fuck off of other people’s blog until you get yourself some fucking help you stupid ED twat. Seriously, you need some help. There is help out there and you need it.

    • Andrea says:

She could have an eating disorder. I’m not going to lie. What I percieved that people thought of me was a huge factor in me shoving my hand down my throat. RunnerGirl, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Cursing and name calling is real classy.

      • Fiona says:

Andrea – she could very well have an eating disorder, I agree. We just don’t know – there are more people out there who don’t look like they have one than are blatantly sick.
I agree, RunnerGirl, people are entitled to their own opinions, and that’s Nicoles. I appreciate that you and your friends think I am in some way at risk by having anything to do with Nicole – I appreciate that you care. But I’m big enough and old enough and ugly enough to look out for myself :)

    • Fiona says:

I think you are outnumbered, Nicole! The world has voted :) Idon’t see Beyonce as fat at all. I see her as a woman who hasn’t succumbed to the pressure to be unnaturally thin. Thin isn’t necessarily beautiful. It can be very ugly, as I found when I was too thin!

  4. Andrea says:

I read once that Beyonce does 500 sit-ups a day.

    • Fiona says:

I hope she doesn’t.. or if she does, I hope that it’s part of a balanced program. My gut is aching thinking of 500 a day!

      • Andrea says:

Yes, I severely doubt it’s true.

      • Fiona says:

Do you really think she is eating disordered then? I wouldn’t be surprised if she had felt huge pressure to slim down, but I hope she hasn’t gone overboard and is abusing her body like so many other stars.

      • Andrea says:

The thing is, you never can tell. I’d be really sad if she did. I just know how others thinking I’m fat has affected me in the past (or me believing they did). I think she has an amazing body. She definitely takes care of herself. And I think she just had a baby?

      • Fiona says:

Yes, she has just had a baby. There was so much stupidity in the press before she had it, accusing her of faking her pregnancy, even faking her baby bump – made me so mad. I too agree, that what others might think of me has affected me badly – bullying has left me, still, more than a decade after school, remembering it and hurt by it every day. I’m so sad that you have had people be cruel about your weight (or think they have, but they would have given you a good reason to think that). It’s sad when people are too shallow to see past weight and appearance to the true beauty.

I’m with wannabee!!! Nominate your own most beautiful woman that has nothing to do with curves, lack of curves, skin … In other words pick someone with beauty on the inside and who has done something besides look gorgeous in a gown.

  7. It’s so funny you just wrote a post about this, and a lovely one at that! I’m consistantly inspired by Beyonce because she is in great shape – she is a brilliant dancer – and she works hard yet seems to stay humble.

I agree that she hasn’t succumbed to becoming thin (although, why would you when you have a figure like hers?!) but then her body shape, like mine, will not allow us to be healthily thin. She has to be fit to work as hard as she does with dancing and touring – and giving birth ;) – and i don’t think her thighs could physically be thin without the rest of her body looking emaciated. Lovely post, you constantly smash my own assumptions about anorexic suffers and i’m so thankful for you! :) xx

    • Fiona says:

She must work hard to stay in shape! Reading your comment made me stop and reflect about how hectic and full on the lives are of a lot of the people we call ‘stars’. I would not be able to hack it. You would need to be strong and healthy to be able to do what Beyonce does and not have your body end up collapsing on you – because it will if you aren’t strong enough.
I’m glad I can smash those assumptions. I’m just one person with an ED though – we are as diverse as there are as many people with it!
Hope you are feeling better my friend xxx
